See below for a couple programs that we are using to support Math in Focus. Both programs can be used at home. See the recommended timeframes below as well.
Students are encouraged to spend at least 90 minutes a week on this program. Your students spend approximately 45 minutes a week at school. The rest could be done at home, especially on the weekends. If you need assistance in setting it up, please let me know.
Here is a blurb about ST math from the MIND Research institute:
Created by MIND Research Institute, ST Math is game-based instructional software for K-12 and is designed to boost math comprehension and proficiency through visual learning. Integrating with classroom instruction, ST Math incorporates the latest research in learning and the brain and promotes mastery-based learning and mathematical understanding. The ST Math software games use interactive, graphically-rich animations that visually represent mathematical concepts to improve conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.
The 4th and 5th grades received a grant to incorporate Reflex Math (fact fluency) into the existing programming. Your students should be proficient in recalling all multiplication and division facts (30 mixed multiplication & division facts up to 10 in 1 minute).
The great thing about this program is that it adapts and is individualized. Reflex continuously monitors each student's performance to create the optimal experience for every child. Students should spend 15-20 minutes on this 3 times a week. This program can be accessed at home as well. If your student forgets the login and/or password, please ask me.
