MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry)
We went to the MOHAI to study the NW Coast Salish tribe. The students participated in an activity where they cracked the code and discovered cultural facts about the Salish. Then, they traveled through all the exhibits on a scavenger hunt guided on ipads.
Tillicum Village
We visited Tillicum Village to wrap up our NW Coast People unit. The students experienced the tribal culture through a ferry ride with a storytelling performance. When we arrived to Blake Island the students entered through the Longhouse to see the salmon cooking over open fire. Then, we ate in the dining hall and watched a performance of Coast Salish storytelling and traditional dance.

SAM (Seattle Art Museum)
Our art teacher, Ms. Meg, planned a trip to the SAM. We toured the Miro exhibit and learned more about surrealism art. Students got the chance to practice their skills in class with their own original art.
Ms. Meg taught the kids who to have conversations about the art. Student lead discussions about their interpretations (see videos below).
