Mark is known with family and friends for his version of "Mafia," which is a role playing game where civilians, detectives, and a guardian angel try to discover who are mafia members. Clearly, the students know each other very well because each game that was played (4 total), the civilians won. This result has never happened in all of my experiences playing the game!
Students were given marshmallows and toothpicks. The challenge was to design and construct a "creative" piece. Obviously, creative could be interpreted anyway their imaginative minds can handle. There were crowns, cages with dogs inside, a game, and a leaning Eiffel Tower, among other creations. Mark judged and it turns out they were all "winners."
Students created games to play, including Poison Dart Frog. This is a mystery game where a student is identified as the poisonous frog and they try to poison the other flies. A detective tries to find the frog before all the flies are vanished. Students played the classic spoon game with a twist. Initially it started as the classic Spoons game where students pass cards until they collect 4 of a kind. At which point, the first person to do so dives for the spoons in the middle of the table. Of course, there is one less spoon than participants per round. The person to not grab a spoon is out. The twist involved hiding the spoons in the hall, forcing students to run and search for them. The last person to find the spoon is out. Clearly, they love it! |
